It’s a (Tea) Party

I’m heading to Boston today to visit sis #2 for a couple of days.  While there, I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for anti-Tea Party stickers along what was then Griffin’s Wharf (now Independence Wharf at 470 Atlantic Avenue), the site of the historical Boston Tea Party.  Here is what it looks like now.

One could write a thesis on the irony of this.  Talk about taxation without representation.  Who paid for that?

On a related note, I found a great sticker in NYC last year with a picture of Sarah Palin and the phrase “Trojan Horse,” which will be scanned and posted soon.  Arianna Huffington described Palin as a “Trojan Moose Concealing Four More Years of Bush (September 8, 2008).

Just because I haven’t been writing about stickers lately doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about them e-v-e-r-y  s-i-n-g-l-e  d-a-y.  In the past month, however, one of my ace SLU students, Joe Pomainville, has scanned all of the Berlin stickers from Mauerfall 2009 and the CIIS trip in 2010 — about 600-700 or so from both trips, I think.  The posse grows.  I still need to put all of my 2009 NYC stickers into archival notebooks, so he can scan those next.  Maybe I can do that this weekend, tho it’s hard to be inside on such lovely summer days.  Anyway, there is much to write about, and I’m falling behind.

On the other hand, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Horizon lines

No sticker action today.

they tiny feet

My previous reference to grasshopper legs was a poor nod to a poem by the well-known cat cartoonist B. Kliban, though I didn’t really remember the whole thing until y-e-s-t-e-r-d-a-y.

“Love to eat them mousies,

Mousies what I love to eat.

Bite they little heads off…

Nibble on they tiny feet.”

Too much

Too much reading.  Too much writing.  Too much to do.  Too much yard work.  Too much wood to stack.

Stickerkitty needs to chase after Monarchs and rip the tiny legs off tiny grasshoppers for a little while.

(Ha!  Just kidding on the grasshopper part.)
